Ryan Dowd is Executive Director of Hesed House, a large homeless shelter outside of Chicago, Illinois. He started volunteering there when he was 13 and joined the staff in college.
Most weeks, Ryan travels somewhere in the world to train organizations (law enforcement, healthcare, libraries, nonprofits, etc.) how to compassionately and effectively manage problematic behavior from troubled individuals.
His first book, The Librarian’s Guide to Homelessness [LINK], was published by the American Library Association.
Ryan is a licensed attorney with a Master’s of Public Administration.
